| I offered to get another un dented hatch because he was only willing to trade back for exactly what we traded. However, apparently black NA hatch from one car isn't a suitable replacement for dented black NA hatch from another. I had them fix the hatch at the body shop because i spent about 2 hours getting the hatch from him, and then an hour to get it to the body shop. A lot of the body shops around here have TONS of hail damaged cars and are severely backedup. If i had to hunt around for another hatch and had them hold up my car, it'd wind up being there for 3 weeks. I took the loss. I didn't call him up and say 'hey that hatch you sold me needed 300 dollars of body work... give me 300 dollars' I offered to get another hatch because then have a hatch, and i get my parts back, which is back to square one. Or i offered to just give him money to make it like i bought the hatch which would put us back to square one. Then i offered to let him keep my downpipes and let me give him money for the hatch, in which case he'd basically have gotten downpipes for nothing. Yes, i should have examined the hatch more thoroughly before bringing the hatch to the body shop. I couldnt tell there were as many dents as there were because of the matte/faded/peeling paint. I didn't rub my hands all over it to feel every little dent so i didn't know they were there until the body shop told me. Buyer beware. However, if a friend of mine sells me something then pulls 'buyer beware' on me, they can gtfo.
